Learn with Lucid: World Environment Day

World Enviornment Day

In honour of World Environment Day, the Lucid team are encouraging businesses to consider upgrading their technology (and, wherever possible, recycling their outdated equipment). This simple choice can have a massive impact on both your carbon footprint and your budget — read on to find out how.

What is World Environment Day?

Celebrated annually on June 5 th , World Environment Day is a global awareness event that aims to tackle plastic pollution and promote sustainability. It forms part of the UN Environment Programme, and has been honoured every year since 1973. Every year, a country is chosen to host the event, and a theme is chosen. This year, World Environment Day is being hosted by the Republic of Korea, and the theme is Beat Plastic Pollution.

The Hidden Cost of Outdated Hardware

There are many hidden costs associated with older technology, all of which may be silently eating away at your budget. Firstly, outdated hardware typically runs more slowly than modern equivalents, wasting valuable time and productivity. They are also less energy-efficient, so your costs will be higher, and your carbon footprint will be larger. Older systems also tend to be more vulnerable to cyber-attacks because they lack the most recent security features, leading to a potential catastrophe.

Sustainable Technology with Lucid

So, why is purchasing new technology a more sustainable choice? The answer is that modern equipment is more efficient to run, uses less energy, and is typically easier to maintain (older models might require obsolete parts or expensive fixes). Over its lifetime, a modern PC will be far less damaging to the environment than an older model for these reasons, and it will also ensure that your business can run smoothly and efficiently. At Lucid Technology Solutions, we can provide hardware to suit your needs, train your staff to get the most out of your new equipment, and help you to promote cybersecurity across your devices. Our work is better for the planet, and better for you! For more information about becoming more sustainable with Lucid, you can contact us here.
